Typical Day in Role:
• The Mainframe COBOL Developer, reporting to the Senior Manager Development, will lead various development projects and support application solutions for the Canadian business line. They will collaborate with multiple teams to deliver requirements for regulatory and compliance platforms. Ideal candidates should be proactive, creative, show initiative, eager to learn, and thrive on challenges
• The role involves acting as an expert technical resource for problem analysis and solution implementation, supporting applications, and working within the Bank's architectural guidelines.

Must have skills:
• 10+ years of Assembler experience is a must in recent projects.
• 10+ years of experience in mainframe development complex programs using Cobol, including: JCL, IMS DB/DC, DB2, Netron, VSAM, CICS, CA7, SAS, SDSF.
• 5+ years’ Experience with Security and environment control systems (Endevor, ACF2), Problem Analysis (Fault Analyzer), Database Management (e.g. IMS, DB2, VSAM)
• 5+ years’ experience in Utilities and productivity tools (e.g. MVS/TSO, ACR, COMPAREX, SYNCSORT, IDCAMS, CRF, File Manager etc.) an asset
• 5+ years’ strong experience of DB2 database, z/OS Debugger, DFSORT, JCL and COBOL
Nice to have
• Understanding of File Transfer protocols and processes ie. FTP, SFTP, PGP Encryption
• Understanding mainframe integration for ETL processing
• Experience and knowledge of DevOps
• Experience and knowledge of web services and APIs an asset
• Experience and knowledge of web and cloud (Azure) technologies an asset??

– Fluent in English, oral and written
– Possess excellent organizational skills and be able to prioritize and plan work to meet tight deadlines.
– Possess excellent interpersonal skills to deal with industry experts and professionals across the Bank.
Best vs average: All candidates should first and foremost have strong Assembler experience, as this is central to the role and shortlisting process. Strong experience with Cobol is also critical.
Degrees or certifications:
– Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or technical equivalent
Interview Structure and Format:
– One 60mins Video panel interview. Panel will include HM, Technical lead, Project lead and solutions architect.
– Questions will be around project experience, technical, work patterns, production support and behavioral. There will also be a Live coding assessment.
