Typical Day in Role:
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader client relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Builds and maintains a strong working relationship with peers across the business lines including key stakeholders across Commercial Banking, Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking, Small Business banking divisions in Canadian Banking.
• Supports, maintains, and enhances the MIS Reporting solutions to meet business needs.
• Designs, develops, and maintains the distributed data pipelines by leveraging legacy platforms including SAS, Mainframe as well as data and reporting platforms from Microsoft.
• Effectively implements SDLC across the specification, design, build, test, and deployment phases of development. Enables Agile culture and facilitates Scrum and Kanban.
• Understands how the client's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with client's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet the obligations with respect to operational, compliance, ML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:
1. 8-10+ years of Development experience.
2. 7+ years of hands-on experience in building data pipelines using tools like Mainframe/TSO (JCL/ PROC, ISPF) and Mainframe SAS.
3. Expert knowledge of Mainframe (JCL/PROC) and SAS.
4. Previous exposure to Mainframe and SAS upgrades.
5. Previous exposure to Data Migration from Mainframe to other platforms (RDBMS).
Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Exposure to MIS platforms, SQL based analysis on RDBMS like SQL Server/Sybase/DB2/Oracle.
• Experience in Atlassian Jira/Confluence, GIT, TFS/Azure DevOps is an asset.
• Knowledge of Canadian Banking source systems including Commercial Banking, Retail Lending, Day-To-Day banking, Small Business banking is an asset.
Soft Skills:
• Strong communications skills to facilitate meetings with various stakeholders, communicate ambiguous topics in a structured manner and deliver presentations/demos.
• Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences.
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction.
Education:
• Post-secondary degree in IT/Computer Science/Business Administration and relevant experience.
