Location Address: Toronto – Hybrid model (1 -2 days a week in office)

Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Looker Developer with a strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join our dynamic data analytics team. You possess an in-depth understanding of LookML and the ability to seamlessly connect Looker to our GCP data sources.

Story Behind the Need
Business lines play a pivotal part in shaping the bank’s business intelligence strategy through the design, development, and maintenance of a robust Looker instance to ensure scalability, performance, and data integrity.

Project: The CDM requires a Looker/BI reporting tool developer that is not currently part of the team to effect the migration from existing BI tools to the CGP platform.

Typical Day in Role:
Looker Development:

Design and develop complex LookML models, ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity.
Create visually appealing and informative dashboards, visualizations, and reports, tailored to the needs of various stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into actionable data models and visualizations.
Implement robust testing and deployment strategies for Looker content.

GCP Integration:

Establish and optimize secure connections between Looker and GCP data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).
Manage data pipelines and transformations within the GCP environment.
Design ETL processes optimized for Looker's consumption.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
Work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and end-users to understand requirements and deliver insights.
Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members on Looker best practices and data visualization techniques.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of Looker models, processes, and user guides.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
• 10+ years of experience in BI report development which includes significant hands-on LOOKER development including advanced knowledge of LookML (AI component of LOOKER).
• 10+ years of experience in BI reports migration
• Demonstrated expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly BigQuery or other GCP data stores.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
• Experience in Agile development methodologies.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience with Git version control
• Experience with Oracle data bases
• Background in data warehousing and ETL processes
• Understanding of statistical concepts and data analysis techniques

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex cloud concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Education & Certificates:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Best VS. Average Candidate:
The best candidate will have extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on GCP.
