Typical Day in Role:
• Act as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts
• Assure quality security and compliance requirements are met for supported area
• Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive manner
• You will be providing technical architectural designs solutions/reviews for Engineering projects/initiatives
• You will be partnering with key stakeholders such as Enterprise Information Systems, Information & Security Advisory, etc. to ensure proposed solutions align to business requirements, as well as appropriate Scotiabank technical and security standards or frameworks
• You will be producing technical solution documents, design/architecture diagrams, security design documentation as required to support new, proposed or existing Engineering solutions
• You will be directing day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with our risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits and communicate it throughout the team.
• You will be delivering technical presentations or knowledge walkthroughs of existing and proposed application systems to various audiences including project team members, peer technology teams and management
• You will be providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity
• You will be mentoring and coaching other team members on technical issues, set standards and architectural reviews
• You will be acting as an internal consultant on all architecture related items while participating in all phases of the project development life cycle
• Leverage industry best practices to design, test, implement and support a solution
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 8-10 years of technical working experience in Consulting or Corporate Systems Development environments or equivalent
2) 5+ years’ experience with system and application architecture solutions, development, maintenance, and support of a variety of banking/applications on different technologies and platforms
3) 5+ years’ experience with web-based information technology principles, System Integration, Methodologies and Standards / Metrics.
4) 5+ years’ experience in managing, facilitating, and governing architecture review boards
5) Experience in an Agile environment
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Experience with audit
2) Experience with cross-group collaboration
3) Knowledge/experience with Cyber and IT Risk

• Ability to understand complex problems and articulate potential solutions.
• The ability to analyze and evaluate complex architectural designs and data architectures
• A keen desire to continually review internal processes, conduct gap analysis and Lean transformation when required to ensure the group is always focused on innovation and process improvement.
• Communication skill commensurate to the task of managing stakeholder relationships at senior management level and working with a group that has diverse technical backgrounds to achieve organization goals is important.
• You have excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and is capable of multi-tasking and managing concurrent tasks and initiatives
